While Rogue Scholar’s new website isn’t quite live yet, we couldn’t resist sharing a preview! Using our signature one-day VIP intensive design and strategy process, our team crafted a deep purple, dramatic website that suited our wonderful client, Andrea, perfectly.

Oftentimes, Squarespace websites look a bit cookie cutter, due to the platform’s block and section framework.
However, with a bit of clever thinking, you can definitely get out of the “screams Squarespace” look and have a website that’s wholly aligned with your brand–and this is just one of those cases!

One of Andrea’s asks was for icons. I’m a bit “icon averse” because they can often create a “cartoony” look for websites or become a dominant element that competes with rather than compliments a brand. However, after some thinking, we came up with a novel solution to prevent that and still enhance the site with some simple geometric icons representing Andrea and her team’s area of expertise.

Another lesson you can learn from this Squarespace 7.1 example is that you don’t have to chase the trends to make a big impact–in fact, you’ll make a stronger statement if you eschew what’s trendy!
These days, everyone is asking for “minimal” websites and while I love a good clean design approach, we’re verging on lots of same-ness in web design. I’d much rather see a client go “all in” on an aesthetic and point of view than try to mimic their competitors.
Be memorable.

Down to the tagline, “Let’s do research together,” Rogue Scholar takes a strong point of view and lets visitors know exactly where they’re coming from. Their audience will understand that this is not the same old, same old research company.
