Feel like you're screaming into the void? ?

Note from Sarah: This article was originally sent via my newsletter. Newsletter subscribers receive essay style pieces like this before anyone else. Click here to subscribe!

The subject line says it all—have you ever felt like you're creating content, knocking out blog posts, posting on Youtube, Instagramming, whatever but you don't know if anyone is even listening?

Yeah, I've been there, done that.

Especially because people no longer comment heavily on blogs (with a few large, notable exceptions), they cruise by your posts without even double-tapping and Facebook is kind of a hot mess at the moment, so who knows what's happening over there...

But lately I've started to notice something. People I talk to are referencing things I've mentioned online, or even in this newsletter.

I recently had someone reach out after reading my blog for three years, I've picked up people using terminology that are themes that your run through all of the content I create (there is a method here, folks).

All signs are pointing to that when I shout into the void that is the internet, people are listening, they just engage in different ways. And when it's time, they do connect with you.

I hear this from other folks who create content online as well—the more the invest in quality content (quality is crucial here—don't limit your content to marketing and SEO-focused pieces) the more it snowballs and your message starts to push through to the people who need to hear it.

So, this is my pep talk this Friday:

- Don't get discouraged.- Keep reiterating your perspective and positioning.- If your gut tells you that something is starting to get a bit of traction, keep going.- Listen to what people say to you—you may hear exactly what you've been putting out in the world coming back to you.
